The Isle of Wight Council is extending its congratulations to students across the Island who have worked hard to achieve their A-level, technical, vocational, and apprenticeship qualifications this year.
A full picture of results achieved by students who sat these exams earlier this year, will be available when the final and validated data is published by the Department for Education.
Cllr Jonathan Bacon, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Education, said:
“On behalf of the Isle of Wight Council I would firstly like to send my congratulations to all those post-16 students for their continuous hard work during their school journey so far.
"A huge thank you is also extended to the many teachers and tutors across colleges, sixth forms and other training providers.
"Your work and dedication to helping our young people achieve these qualifications is highly commendable. You have set a new generation on to their career path.’’
Naomi Carter, Service Director for Education Access and Inclusion, added:
‘’While this is a momentous day, we must remember though that it is also a time of different emotions for many students.
"The Isle of Wight Council offers a variety of advice and support for young people wondering how to take and what are the next steps towards their careers after their results.’’
The council’s Island Futures team provides qualified, independent careers advisers who are available throughout the exam results period to talk through options.
These include moving on to university, higher apprenticeship choices, employment or other training.
The team is skilled in assisting students who are worried they don’t have the grades they were expecting, or if their plans for September have changed and they are unsure what to do next.
Island Futures has a dedicated post exam support service available to call today (Thursday) on 823888, between 9am and 4pm.
