Isle Of Wight Accommodation Providers Needed To Host School Trips

The high demand for school trips to the Isle of Wight is presenting an opportunity for Island accommodation providers to play host.

Island based, Education Destination, provides a range of trips to the Island for primary, secondary and higher education schools and colleges, giving young people of all ages a chance to have fun while learning about particular subjects supported by the Isle of Wight's history, open spaces and attractions.

Jon Carter, Managing Director of Education Destination, said:

“Our Island classroom is unique with its history, scenery, attractions and outdoor spaces, making the whole island a very attractive destination for school groups across all year groups.

"As a local business, we work closely with accommodation providers and attractions to provide memorable school trips that set the island apart from other UK destinations.

"We take care of all the details and management of the trips, but need more accommodation providers to work with us and more attractions to add to our curriculum based trips, due to high demand from schools wanting to visit the island in 2023.”

The Island provides an environment for students to learn with trips, specifically designed by Education Destination, to support Key Stage 1-4. They are trips that also improve students critical thinking, team building and create lifelong memories of the Island.

It is backed up by more than 750 curriculum-relevant teaching and learning resources, all developed by experienced teachers to give the Isle of Wight more quality materials than any other UK school trip location.

The company already works closely with a number of the Island’s accommodation providers and attractions, but due to high demand from schools looking to visit the Island, the company is looking for many more to help satisfy demand. If it isn't met, it can result in schools moving their trips to
other parts of the UK, losing revenue for the Island's economy and all those working with in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Jon added:

“Our support for accommodation providers and attractions is very different from others. With deposits paid on booking and all accommodation paid by us in full prior to any group arriving, often up to 12-weeks in advance.

"Unlike others, we don’t take any commission on bookings with providers receiving 100% of the cost of their accommodation or visit to an attraction. In addition, we take care of detailed planning and itineraries, including risk assessments and all transport needs.”

Groups range from 10 to 200 with stays of 3-5 nights, Monday to Friday at hotels, B&B’s and guest houses.

With trips taking place during term time, the busy main season is unaffected, providing valuable winter deposit payments and off-season trade, including the opportunity for accommodation providers to increase room occupancy and revenue per room.

Education Destination is asking the Island's accommodation providers and attractions to contact them to discuss how they can add school trips as a valuable source of business for the coming season, and into the future.
