Isle of Wight Beryl Riders Travelled 'Six Times Around The Globe' in 2021

E-Scooter company Beryl has revealed that riders on the Isle of Wight covered 252,546 kilometres in 73,478 journeys this year — equivalent to more than six trips around the globe.

Since launching in 2020, Beryl has expanded its coverage across the Island.

The company is now offering up to 15 minutes of free rides — including free unlock — on all Beryl vehicles on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Beryl chief executive, Phil Ellis, said:

‘’We are delighted to see so many people on the Isle of Wight making use of our scheme, in what has been a very challenging year for everyone.

‘’The figures show that efficient and well delivered micro-mobility systems can quickly become a popular part of the local transport network, providing people with a wider choice of how they travel.

“By getting more people out of the car and using our bikes and scooters, Beryl will continue to play a key role in boosting public health and reducing traffic congestion as well as improving air quality and reducing carbon emissions.’’
