Isle Of Wight Celebrates National Nature Reserves Week This May

Running from May 20-27, the National Trust Isle of Wight will be celebrating National Nature Reserves Week at the Island’s only National Nature Reserve at Newtown.

A series of guided walks and events will be taking place at Newtown National Nature Reserve, set on the idyllic north coast of the Isle of Wight, itself a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve with 50% of the Island classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Newtown National Nature Reserve is also home to seals and White Tailed Eagles (recently released as the spearhead of the reintroduction programme of the rare bird to England) are often spotted hunting for fish there.

The National Trust will be sharing the work they do there and help visitors to discover the wildlife that lives on the reserve, and explain how everyone can keep it special.
