Another Covid milestone has been passed on the Isle of Wight as more than 200,000 vaccine doses have been dished out.
Figures from NHS England show since the rollout of the coronavirus vaccines began in December last year, through to August 8, 200,887 jabs have been issued.
A total of 105,895 first and 94,992 second doses have been given, equating to 71.7 per cent and 64.4 per cent, respectively, of the Island’s entire population.
It comes in the week when the government announced more than 75 per cent of adults in England are double-jabbed.
On the Island, 77 per cent of the Island’s 123,012 over 18s have had two vaccinations.
Of the under 18s, 254 people have had both doses.
Recently released figures from Public Health England stated the Covid-19 vaccines have prevented 84,600 deaths and almost 23.4 million infections.
Nationally, though, a further 33,074 Covid cases have been recorded today (Thursday) compared to 29,612 the day before.
On the Island, 91 new cases have been added today, taking the figure to 8,500 cases since the start of the pandemic.
