The Isle of Wight football community is mourning the loss of a much-loved character of the game.
Steve Case had been involved in Island football for more than 50 years - most recently as the manager of Pan Community FC.
Steve had been battling cancer and a Go Fund Me page was set up to help cover the cost of his treatment on the mainland.
It read:
"...Steve is a huge part and a well-known face within the Island's football community and beyond, any donation, however small it may be, will help him and his family massively over the next few challenging months."
Steve had also suffered other medical episodes in recent months.
On the Pan Community Facebook page, a post from first-team coach Josh, said:
“It is with an extremely heavy heart we must announce the passing of our manager Steve Case aka Caser.
“Steve sadly passed away early this morning.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with family at this very sad time.
“We will ensure his name lives on within the club and community for years to come.
“UP THE STEVE CASE”.
Shanklin Football Club posted:
