Isle Of Wight Football Fan's UK-Wide Stadium Tour In Memory Of Mum

Visiting 93 football stadiums in a week is the challenge facing an Isle of Wight man.

Tom Harding, from Binstead, is travelling the country, via car, to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

He'll take on the challenge alongside his dad and son in July.

Speaking to Isle of Wight Radio, he said he wanted to honour his mum, who died from the illness in November 2019:

"About a year after my mum died I thought I want to do something to raise money. I want to do something big, something that hasn't been done before.

"I mentioned it to my dad about driving to all the grounds and I was surprised he was up for it really. And yeah, we went from there."

On what would've been his mum's 63rd birthday, Tom and his family drove to 25 grounds across the Island yesterday (Friday).

They will turn their attention to bigger stadiums on July 5.

First up, is Southampton's St Mary's Stadium.

Tom said:

"I've emailed every football club. Apart from the ones who have gone down and the ones who are coming up - because we don't know who is coming up yet. So far about 20 teams are letting us into their stadiums for a pitch-side photo - including about four Premiership teams.

"We're starting at St Mary's, then we're heading down to Plymouth first and up the country."

More than £1,000 has so far been raised for the charity.
