Isle of Wight Literary Festival Organisers Call For Video Footage

Organisers of this year's Isle of Wight Literary Festival are asking writers to share the aspect of the Island that inspires their work by sending in a short video, so they can feature in this year's event.

A collection of videos will be curated and played during the festival, which will be going digital in its ninth year because of the pandemic.

Write on the Wight asks creatives this:

“What makes the Island so special for writers and book lovers?

Over the centuries many famous scribes have made the Island their base:  Alfred Lord Tennyson, Winston Churchill, Charles Dickens, John Keats, J B Priestly, Enid Blyton, Anthony Minghella and literary festival vice patron Alan Titchmarsh.

It could be the Island’s coastal scenery, rich woodlands, wonderful historic castles and ruins, picturesque villages and towns, or local communities, groups and activities.

Whatever it is you must try and capture it in a short video.

If you submit it (before Friday 18 September) you will be entered into the prize draw for:

  • Two day return car ferry journeys from Red Funnel
  • Two £25 book vouchers from Medina Bookshop in Cowes

You can get a flavour and watch last year’s footage on YouTube here
