An Isle of Wight man has pleaded guilty to a number of sexual offences against children following an investigation by Hampshire Constabulary.
Jonathan Richard Maertens, aged 35, of Richmond Meade, Freshwater, pleaded guilty to 34 separate indictments, including multiple counts of serious sexual abuse against nine different children, including rape and sexual assault.
He appeared at Newport Crown Court on October 5.
He has been remanded in custody and will appear for sentencing at Isle of Wight Crown Court on November 23.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said:
"We understand that this case will be of concern to the local community, but would ask that you do not to speculate on any circumstances.
"The children affected and their families have been provided with support from specialist staff throughout.
"This case is not connected with any other investigations."
