An Isle of Wight Mother is shaving her head for a charity that supported her and her daughter when she was suffering with an eating disorder.
Carole Parks, who lives in Sandown, told Isle of Wight Radio she has chosen the charity Beat because her daughter was hospitalised in 2019 and she wants to “give something back” to them.
She told Isle of Wight Radio at the time she felt “helpless”.
She said:
“I felt lost and didn’t know what to do or say - so I spoke to them and asked them for advice about what was the best thing to do - because I felt lost and didn’t know what to do. They are there to listen and give advice and try and help.”
Carole’s daughter is "doing really well" at home and is out of hospital now.
As previously reported, The Isle of Wight Youth Trust says it has seen a rise in referrals for eating disorders through the lockdown.
Carole added:
“My daughter wants to be involved as well, so she will be there on the day when I do this challenge but I am quite proud of her because she wants people to know what happened to her over the years.”
Carole will be having her head shaved at Pin Ups hair studio, Newport on Friday 25 June at 4.30pm. Anyone is welcome to come and support.
She is hoping to raise £1,000 and you can sponsor her HERE
