Isle Of Wight MP Among Tory Rebels Who Opposed Covid Pass Plan

The Isle of Wight's MP is among the dozens of Tory rebels who opposed Government rules around COVID passes.

Bob Seely is one of 100 Conservatives who voted against the Prime Minister's so-called "vaccine passport" scheme last night (Tuesday).

The Island's MP also voted 'no' to mandatory vaccination for front-line NHS staff. Despite opposition, both were voted through after Labour backing.

Mr Seely did, however, support plans to extend face mask rules to most indoor places.

The rebellion adds to the growing pressure on Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

In the last hour, Labour has accused him of being the "worst possible Prime Minister at the worst possible time."

Sir Keir Starmer described the Prime Minister's leadership as "weak" following the backbench rebellion.

Mr Johnson's said the Labour leader was playing "party politics" and he has had to take the necessary "tough decisions" throughout the crisis.
