The Isle of Wight NHS Trust has been forced to apologise for its "failure in care" - and says it is "genuinely sorry" - after an Isle of Wight woman underwent hernia mesh surgery at St Mary's Hospital.
EXCLUSIVE:
As previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, Islander Sally says she "lost hope" after being left "immobile" following the operation in 2018. She is the second woman to come forward after another patient, Jane, told Isle of Wight Radio of the "devastating consequences" and "chronic pain" she has been left with, following the same surgery.
Isle of Wight Radio is still waiting for a comment – with regards to Jane – from the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.
A spokesperson for Isle of Wight NHS Trust said:
“We apologise to Sally for the failures in her care and we are genuinely sorry to hear that she is continuing to experience pain following her surgery in 2018. We will do all that we can to help improve things for her.”
“We encourage anyone with concerns about their care to contact us. Our Patient Experience team is on hand to talk to you about any issues you may have experienced and to help answer your questions.”
