Isle Of Wight Police Reveal Night Of Assaults, Crash, Domestic Incident - And A Police Car Stuck In Mud

Facebook: Isle of Wight Police

It was a busy night for officers on the Isle of Wight as police reveal they have dealt with reports of a sexual assault, a crash, a missing person - and police car stuck in the mud.

Posting on Facebook, Sgt Radford said the night consisted of a several arrests on the Island for a variety of reasons.

He said:

"My team worked overnight and we now have a few days off, I thought you would like to know what we were doing.

  • There was a car accident before I started duty where a male has been arrested for multiple offences.
  • A missing person
  • Officers attended a domestic incident and located a wanted male. Unfortunately he assaulted a police officer and tried to run off. There is no hiding from a police dog though 🙈 I’m sorry to the persons garden we were in, I expect we woke you up. The male remains in custody and thankfully the police officer is ok.
  • A person was arrested for a sexual offence
  • A person was arrested for domestic related matters

"There were other things happening during the night and officers also self generate their own work.

"These incidents require investigation which can include - witness statements, scene preservation, seizing items, completion of paperwork on our computer systems (yes, normally a lot of paperwork 😊) CCTV, care for victims, arresting people, interviews, photographs, forensic evidence gathering - phew, that is a small example.

"It is my responsibility to make sure I have enough officers at each incident and to supervise the investigations. I will also go out to incidents that require a supervisor or if colleagues need assistance. I will also offer help and guidance where necessary and look after the welfare of my staff.

"One officer guesting on my team got their police car stuck in some mud, that was very awkward. Don’t forget the cakes the next time you are covering."
