Isle Of Wight Roads: Five Arrests And Six Vehicles Seized In Police Crackdown

Five people were arrested for drug driving offences on the Isle of Wight last week.

Six vehicles had to be seized for having no insurance - or the driver having no licence. And, there were also two 'fail to stop' pursuits.

Hampshire's Roads Policing Proactive Team joined the Island's officers as part of a traffic operation.

They arrested five individuals under the Road Traffic Act for drug drive offences, one individual for being concerned in the supply of drugs as well as carrying out five stop searches.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:

"We will continue to proactively stop vehicles we believe are involved in drug supply. We know you think you can avoid us but we will catch up with you eventually….We receive lots of information from our community as we clearly cannot be everywhere at once. If you notice any suspicious behaviour please report online as always."

As Isle of Wight first reported, one 'fail to stop' incident happened in East Cowes. Officers were in pursuit of a silver car.

There was also an incident where a driver fled after crashing in Lake.
