Isle Of Wight Youth Trust Looking To Recruit New Taskforce Members

The Isle of Wight Youth Trust Taskforce is seeking new members to ensure more children and young people on the Island have a say in the things that matter to them.

The Taskforce was founded in 2017 with members meeting monthly to bring young people’s voices to the fore on youth mental health services as well as access to other services on the Island allied to mental health.

All children and young people on the Island aged 12-25 are welcome to join.

Their work includes:

  • Working with staff and trustees to improve services at the Youth Trust
  • Engaging more people in conversations about youth mental health services on the Island to influence change
  • Creating opportunities for young people to have more of a say in other things that impact their mental health, including money, employment, housing and climate change

This year's Taskforce has represented the Trust at a Mental Health Roadshow at St. Mary’s Hospital, a Wellbeing Fair at the Isle of Wight College, marched in the Isle of Wight Pride Parade and helped run a stand at Wightwave Beach Fest.

Youth Trust CEO, Jo Dare, explains:

“Our current Taskforce members are a small, dedicated team, invaluable to the work of the Youth Trust.

"They help us shape our services to ensure we remain relevant to the needs of children, young people and their families on the Island.

"They are included in the development of our new strategy, the recruitment process of staff and most recently in the design and development of our new website.”

Rosie, one of the founding Taskforce members added:

"I have been a Mental Health Taskforce Ambassador for five years.

"I became an ambassador because I wanted to make a difference to the mental health issues of young people on the Isle of Wight.

"I have loved every minute of being an ambassador and love seeing the changes that are being made for young people."

Young people wishing to join the Taskforce are invited register online.

The form will be live on the site until the beginning of November, after which time further details will be sent out regarding attending an induction event.
