Isle of Wight eateries have been judged on their food hygiene standards — but how well have they done?
In recent inspections carried out by the Isle of Wight Council’s environmental health officers, food-serving businesses have been ranked on how clean and safe their premises and practices are.
Across three categories — hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and food safety management — there are 80 points available, which determine the rank the business is given.
They range from ‘five’ (Very Good) down to ‘zero’ (Urgent Improvement Necessary).
This time, there were no ‘one’ (Major Improvement Necessary) or ‘zero’ (Urgent Improvement Necessary) reviews given.
