There are fears for the future of staff at Ryde's Neutrik after the company announced plans to relocate its manufacturing plant to mainland Europe.
The firm, which supplies audio visual equipment, has confirmed it is consulting with employees.
"Recruitment, supply chain complexities and rapidly rising levels of global demand" have been cited as reasons for the potential relocation.
Neutrik said further details will be announced following the end of the consultation process.
It's thought the branch in Ryde employs around 150 staff.
Managing Director, Mark Perrins, said:
“Neutrik production has been closely associated with Ryde, IOW for over 40 years, but recent events have resulted in circumstances that are negatively impacting the company’s ability to operate effectively from its current location.
"Recruitment, supply chain complexities and rapidly rising levels of global demand are the key issues requiring us to consider all available viable options, including the relocation of production to mainland Europe.
“At this time we are actively consulting with Neutrik UK staff. We will announce further details following the completion of all the appropriate consultation procedures.”
