Isle of Wight charity, John's Club, is opening a new community cafe, warm space and learning zone in Shanklin.
John’s Club provides a unique service offering Social and Recreational activities for disabled people, people with learning difficulties and mental health issues.
The exciting new venture will be based in the High Street at the site of a charity shop previously operated by the charity.
John's Club said the new project aims to make the space a community space with 3 specific aims:
- A café which will provide low cost teas, coffees and simple food at very affordable prices
- A warm space which people can use for free. As we feel there is a need for warm spaces into the evening the café will stay open until 8pm to accommodate this
- A learning zone, this space is fully Wi-Fi connected and we will use it to provide free or very affordable training initially targeting digital skills
We are happy to be growing the charity again and feel this will a valuable community asset.
John Phillips, founder of the charity, said:
"In these difficult times, I believe that if John’s Club members can offer our community a place to come for warmth, meet with people, make use of our learning zone and recreational area, it will be of great benefit to many."
The cafe will be officially opening at 12pm on Thursday, February 2.
