Mains Fault Leads To Closure Of Newport's Forest Road

Newport's Forest Road remains closed this morning (Thursday) due to a Mains fault.

The road was initially closed at 1.21pm on Monday (August 19) for SSE to undertake the work — with Island Roads stating this will take a maximum period of five days or — somewhat ambiguously — until the works are complete, whichever is sooner.

Forest Road will be closed between its junction with Gunville Road and its junction with Whitehouse Road for a distance of 180 metres.

During this time SSE will be fault locating, excavating and working to repair low voltage mains fault to restore existing supplies, backfill and reinstate.

The diversion will affect these streets:

Gunville Road, School Lane, High Street, Calbourne Road, Nodgham Lane, Sun Hill,
Freshwater Road, Newport Road, The Causeway, Church Place, Copse Lane, Pixley Hill, Halletts Shute, Bridge Road, River Road, Tennyson Road, Bouldnor Road, Yarmouth Road, Ningwood Hill, Main Road, Elm Lane, Pound Lane, Forest Road

Diversion route(s) will be signed at the time of closure.

Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the road is closed.
