A man has been arrested after being seen carrying a large kitchen knife in Shanklin.
It's alleged a man was seen carrying an item in the town yesterday (Monday).
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
"We were called at 11.52am yesterday (Monday) with reports of a man carrying a large kitchen knife in Shanklin.
"Officers located and arrested a man on Steephill Road, who has subsequently been charged.
"Adam Karim Elsayed, aged 40 years, of Landguard Manor Road, was charged with possession of a knife in a public place.
"He was remanded in custody to appear in Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court this morning."
