
A man has been arrested after being in possession of a BB gun near Sandown Pier.
Hampshire Constabulary was called to the incident just before 3pm yesterday (Thursday).
A man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, at a property in Fort Street.
A 30-year-old man from Sandown remains in custody.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
'We were called just before 3pm yesterday (September 2) to a report of a man with a firearm near Sandown Pier Esplanade.
'The man then went on to an address in Fort Street.
'Officers attended and the man was located, with a BB gun. A 30-year-old man from Sandown has been arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
'He remains in custody.'
