Police were called to reports of a burglary at the Co-op in East Cowes in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).
Officers attended the scene after a window had been smashed and crate of beer stolen from the store on York Avenue.
A 22-year-old man from East Cowes remains in custody, having earlier been arrested.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
"Police were called at 4.58am this morning to reports of a burglary at the Co-op, York Avenue.
"The window had been smashed to gain entry and a crate of beer had been stolen.
"A 22-year-old man from East Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling and is currently in police custody."
