An Isle of Wight man detained by police following a sexual assault on a three-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of rape, police have confirmed.
Hampshire Constabulary says the incident took place at Fort Victoria Country Park in Yarmouth on Bank Holiday Monday (31).
Yesterday, district commander for the Isle of Wight, Superintendent Sarah Jackson spoke exclusively to Isle of Wight Radio.
She appealed for witnesses, particularly two dog walkers who were believed to have been in area at the time to come forward.

Police say a girl was assaulted in woodland at around 3pm.
A man in his 60s, from the Island, subsequently arrested remains in police custody.
Extra officers have been patrolling the area, with a number of cordons in place.
The girl and her family are being supported by specialist officers.
