MAN v FAT is bringing its latest innovation to the Isle of Wight, with funded places available.
'Challenge' is a home-based healthy living and competitive digital weight loss programme for men who want to improve their physical and mental health,
Since 2020, 1,600 men across the UK have taken part in MAN v FAT Challenge, losing just shy of 7,000lbs of weight between them.
A reported 62.3% of adults — and 68% of men — on the Isle of Wight are either overweight or obese, which could equate to as many as 35,500 men across the Island.
Sessions take place from 8-10pm on Tuesdays at The Bay CE High School in Sandown.
With MAN v FAT Challenge men join a local team and weigh in remotely online, scoring points for weight loss while receiving support from a dedicated coach.
Participants take on other teams in weekly challenges, and earn bonus points for the best entries, losing weight and improving their health, and achieving bonuses for weight loss milestones.
"Male obesity is still something of a taboo topic even though two out of three UK males are overweight or obese,” explains Ben Middleton, MAN v FAT Challenge Lead.
“MAN v FAT Challenge provides the support we all need. You get to check in with your teammates and cheer each other on, support each other to lose weight week after week.
"You can try fun new forms of exercise and challenge yourself in the kitchen so that weight loss never becomes a chore."
Participants also get access to the MAN v FAT Community Facebook Group where they can see weekly talks with experts
