A Mayday call from a vessel off the Isle of Wight led to a major overnight search.
HM Coastguard said it received a distress call from a boat off the south east of the Island at around 8pm yesterday evening (Monday).
Coastguard helicopter and RNLI lifeboats from Bembridge and Selsey were sent to conduct searches around the Island.
After an extensive search into the early hours of the morning, nothing was found.
There were no further reports of distress, traffic or wreckage, HM Coastguard said.
The search was terminated.
