Medina Leisure Centre Pool Repairs Could Take At Least Six Weeks

Works to repair a split pipe - which has forced the closure of a swimming pool at Medina Leisure Centre - could take more than six weeks to fix.

One of the circulation pipes to the small pool - which is located underground - has split, causing the pool to lose water.

However, the main pool remains open as normal.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Council -which runs the 1Leisure site - told Isle of Wight Radio:

"The work to rectify this is in a confined space and will be slow progress due to the limited time they can spend in there.

"Our contractor has therefore advised that repairs could, potentially, take a minimum of six weeks to complete and return the pool back into service.

"Residents should keep an eye on the 1Leisure Facebook page for further updates."

Saturday swimming lessons will take place in the shallow end of the main pool, while Aqua Babes baby lessons are also in the main pool on Mondays and Thursdays.

School swimming lessons will continue as normal, but in the main pool.
