Two men have been escorted back to the shore after attempting to complete the St Helen's Fort Walk.
Bembridge RNLI's Inshore Lifeboat (RNLB Norman Harvey) launched to locate and assist two adults who had been reported as being in difficulty returning from walking to the fort - despite recent appeals from emergency crews and other authorities not to attempt the walk.
RNLB Norman Harvey launched at 7.30pm last night (Monday) at the request of Solent Coastguard to investigate.
Conditions were calm, so it did not take them long to reach the area, by which time the two people had made their way safely ashore and were being 'escorted' back to the top of the beach by the Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team.
