A cheque for £6,000 has been presented to Wessex Cancer Support following a nomination for funding as part of the recycling of metals scheme run by the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management.

The scheme, with consent from bereaved families, raises funds from the recycling of metals from cremation to donate to a chosen charity.

Laura Haytack, Regional Fundraising Manager for the Isle of Wight Branch of Wessex Cancer Trust, received the cheque, saying:

“The Trust believes that there should be help and support available to everyone living with cancer, when and where they need it.

"One in two of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetime. Wessex Cancer Trust provides free and local emotional support to anyone living with cancer."

“Our ambition is a future where everyone affected by cancer receives the support that empowers them to live well with and beyond cancer.

"We can continue supporting Island people with this funding.”
