More Than £90K Given To Wootton's Care In The Garden Community Nursery

The Isle of Wight's Care in the Garden Community Nursery has been given a grant of more than £90,000.

The charity, based in Wootton, was initially created in 2012 as a community company to offer work experience and opportunities to Islanders with disabilities and dementia

As previously reported, the site was offering work opportunities for Islanders last year (September).

Over the next two years, a total of £90,660 will be given to the charity - so it can continue its vital work.

The  National Lottery funding will expand on-site facilities, promote the Work Buddy scheme and increase the number of work placements and training available to adults with learning disabilities and special needs on the Island.

John Goodenough, Director and Manager of the project, said:

“Our aim in 2021, once all restrictions are lifted, is to expand our services including developing the Work Buddy scheme Island-wide.

"We will continue to actively encourage more of our supported workers to develop their own individual talents and skills, on-site and with other Island employers in order to give them a life of even greater independence”.
