More than a dozen people have been hurt after a double decker bus left the road and ended up in a field near Arreton.
No one is thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries in the incident, according to the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.
At least eight fire appliances and multiple police units were called to the junction of Merstone Lane and East Lane just after 6pm this evening (Wednesday).
Seven ambulances, two patient transport vehicles, a paramedic officer, a paramedic car and a tactical commander from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were also sent to the scene.
13 people have reported injuries, not thought to be serious.
The bus, a double decker, left the road and ended up in a field on all four wheels.
Southern Vectis says it will carry out an “immediate investigation” into what caused the incident.
Richard Tyldsley, Southern Vectis general manager, said:
“I can confirm one of our vehicles was involved in an incident today, when the bus left the road near Merstone.
“Latest reports suggest injuries to some of those on board. We wish them a full and speedy recovery, and we will be monitoring their progress closely.
“The safety of our passengers and drivers is our highest priority, and our team is carrying out an immediate investigation to establish the cause of this incident.”
A road closure remains in place between Blackwater junction and the Downend turn off.
