Bembridge RNLI's lifeboat crew was called to action when a 24-foot-long motorboat suffered a mechanical issue yesterday (Sunday).
The volunteer crew members launched the All Weather Lifeboat after being tasked by HM Coastguard at just after 5:30pm.
The crew quickly located the vessel close to the Bembridge Ledge Buoy and the decision was made to tow it and its two crew back to the safety of Bembridge Harbour.
A Harbour Water Taxi took over the tow at the entrance of the harbour, with the lifeboat returning to its station by 6:20pm.
It had already been a busy day for the RNLI as a popup lifejacket clinic took place at the Duver. Fourteen automatic lifejackets were checked for safety.
