A much-loved Isle of Wight man has passed away after a brave fight against bowel cancer.
Sam Alabaster, 33, was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in September 2021, before being told the cancer was untreatable and incurable in November last year.
Sam, who worked at Morrisons in Newport and previously in Lake, was offered palliative chemotherapy to give him time to make precious memories with his family.
His wife, Charmaine, set up a Facebook page (Through the eyes of another) and an Instagram page (makingmemories_fightingcancer), to raise awareness of the disease and to document Sam's journey.

A fundraising page was also set up to help Sam make special memories with his family. More than £6,000 was donated, which enabled them to enjoy a trip to Disneyworld, Florida.
A charity football match, involving friends, firefighters and staff from Morrisons, also raised £1,400 back in May (pictured below).

In recent months, the Island's hospice, Mountbatten, has been providing vital support and care for Sam, Charmaine and their children.
Sam sadly passed away on Tuesday (18) at Mountbatten.
Speaking to Isle of Wight Radio, Sam's mother, Jayne, said:
"The past year has been incredibly tough for Sam and his family, but he battled his illness with courage and determination and never once complained about the hand he’d been dealt. He was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their ongoing love and support they have been shown, which has comforted us at this very difficult time. May the force be with him."
Sam leaves behind his wife Charmaine, daughters Isabella-Rose and Emelia-Faith, mum Jayne, dad Dean and brothers Joe and Jake. He also leaves mother-in-law Doreen, sister-in-law Keely and extended family.
Details of Sam's celebration of life will be confirmed soon.
