The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has commended members of the public in East Cowes, who used buckets of water and garden hoses to control 'multiple seats of fire' along an alleyway.
In a tweet, the service said that the efforts from neighbours helped prevent the fires from spreading to nearby cars.
Green watch have dealt with multiple seats of fire along an alleyway in East Cowes. In this heat, fires spread rapidly. Fortunately we were able to prevent this spreading to the nearby cars. Excellent work by the public using buckets and garden hoses prior to our arrival. pic.twitter.com/0km6LMyY3L
