New Dentist For Ryde As Plans Approved By Officials

It’s all smiles in Ryde as a new Isle of Wight dental practice is given the green light.

The Isle of Wight Council has approved plans to transform the former youth and community centre on Ryde High Street.

A dental practice will be installed in the heart of the town, with nine clinical rooms, a reception area, sterilisation room and 15 full-time employees.

A new floor will be created in the upper part of the former church, to house five of the clinic spaces.

The proposals have been submitted by Dr Darko Iloski, currently a dentist with Bupa Dental Care in Ryde and the Sandown Dental Practice.

The youth centre has been empty for a while and has been on the market multiple times since it closed, with only the lower ground floor occupied and used as a nursery.

There is no mention in the planning documents of when the surgery could open.

A dental crisis on the Island has taken shape in the last two years, as a lack of appointments and availability of dentists has meant some Islanders are struggling to be treated.
