Following feedback from stakeholders and visitors to Cowes, Cowes Harbour Commission (CHC) is pleased to announce plans for a new marina for East Cowes.
As part of their ‘fit for the future’ strategic vision CHC is currently in the process of finalising their plans for a new 135 berth, walk-ashore marina in East Cowes.
It was clear from feedback that an increased demand for more walk-ashore mooring capacity exists for visitors to Cowes, leisure vessels requiring annual moorings, and large racing yachts and superyachts.
The new marina has a minimum berth length of 7m and has been designed to cater to both recreational boaters and luxury yacht enthusiasts, offering a wide range of modern amenities and creating more opportunity for future sailing regattas.

"The proposed marina will sit within the wider economic regeneration plans and add value to both marine and local services with restaurants, pubs and local facilities also benefitting from this new marina."

An initial Economic Impact Report by Co-Create in 2024 suggests the wider benefits to East Cowes in particular could be in the region of £23m over 20 years.
The plans have already been viewed favourably by local businesses and key stakeholders around the wider Cowes Harbour.
The marina will complement the wider regeneration plans for East Cowes with access to the new marina via the esplanade which is also due to be
developed by Isle of Wight Council.
In partnership with UKSA the proposal also includes converting the old Guard House building in East Cowes for shower and toilet facilities.
As part of the licensing process, the new marina development will take into account the marine ecosystem in the Medina.
