A new study has placed Isle of Wight roads among those in the best condition across England.
According to research from Compare the Market, 84 per cent of Island roads are in good condition.
The table below shows the twelve areas of the UK with roads in the best condition:
To gain the information, researchers analysed government data to reveal the state of road conditions in local authorities across England, uncovering where is the least - and most - need for road improvements.
Julie Daniels, car insurance expert at Comparethemarket said:
“Potholes are the bane of every motorist as driving over them is not only a safety hazard, but can also cause significant damage to your vehicle.
"Having said that, our research shows that drivers on the Isle of Wight appear to be more fortunate than others across the country, as the region ranks within the top 10 locations with the best road conditions.
"Our research shows that 84% of roads across the Isle of Wight are considered in good condition, but also highlights that there is a portion of the road network that still needs work.
"If your vehicle does face damage due to a pothole or poor road conditions, you can make a claim from the council or authority or you can claim on your car insurance if you have fully comprehensive cover.”
