Newport High Street To Close For Bunting Installation

Newport High Street is to close tonight (Monday) to allow for bunting to be put up.

The road will shut from its junction with Mill Street to its junction with Quay Street.

It will be in place to allow for the installation of bunting for the Queen's Jubilee celebrations.

Island Roads says a diversion will affect the following streets:

  • Priory Road
  • Gunville Road
  • Gunville Crescent
  • Forest Road
  • Parkhurst Road, Medina Way
  • Fairlee Link Road
  • Coppins Bridge
  • Snooks Hill
  • St Georges Way
  • Cycle Track Cross Town Newport Link

The closure will be in place from 7pm.

The Island is bracing itself for a weekend of celebrations to mark 70 years on the throne. 

Newport is set to welcome its "biggest event in years".
