A Newport man is appealing the Isle of Wight Council’s decision to refuse him a taxi driver’s licence.
The authority refused the application of Mustafa Zengin in August this year to be able to drive a taxi.
Mr Zengin has since appealed the decision to the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court, saying the council did not consider the application properly on its merits.
The case was first heard this morning (October 11) when it was argued the council failed to provide Mr Zengin with a reasonable opportunity to make representations to sort the application out and it did not take into account all the relevant matters.
An issue with the court’s electric power however meant video facilities were unavailable so representations from the Isle of Wight Council and Mr Zengin’s solicitors could not be made.
The case has been adjourned until December 21.
