Newport's Co-op store is to shut in the spring, it's been confirmed.
The store, based on Pyle Street, is to close in February 2021.
Job losses are expected in the shop, which will also see its Post Office shut.
Isle of Wight Radio has been told it is "too early" to comment on the multi-storey car park.
A Co-op spokesperson, said:
“The Co-op is moving forward with a clear purpose and momentum and while this often involves opening new stores, we also have to take difficult decisions and review our existing sites and how they support our goals of creating a compelling offer for communities, viably and conveniently.
“Our Pyle Street, Newport, store will continue to serve our community through the present lockdown.
“However, after careful consideration, it will close next year.
“The decision is in no way a reflection on the hard work and commitment of colleagues, who have been informed and are being fully supported. We would like to thank the community for its support over the years.”
Post Office Ltd will advertise for a new operator on its website www.runapostoffice.co.uk, and its field team will speak to local retailers.
The store will remain open throughout the current lockdown.
