Isle of Wight Police say they are patrolling an area of Parkhurst Forest 'night and day', in an attempt to catch the person responsible for alleged dog poisonings.
As Isle of Wight Radio first reported on Monday (11), several pets fell ill after eating what appeared to be slug pellets.
A number of incidents were reported near the Marks Corner entrance to Parkhurst Forest.
It's not the first incident of poisonings in the area. A police investigation dating back to a year ago was filed last year.
Posting on Facebook, Isle of Wight Police say they are "doing all they can to stop it". A spokesperson said:
"I have received lots of emails from you all regarding this and I wanted to reassure you that we are doing all we can to stop it.
"I hoped after the last time this had ended but clearly not. I find it as distressing as everyone else so please rest assured myself and my colleagues from other departments are working with partner agencies to locate the person responsible for this.
"We will also be carrying out uniform and plain clothes patrols both day and night and utilising other tactics in our efforts to ensure this does not happen again. There are numerous offences here including causing unnecessary suffering to an animal."
