No Plans Have Been Revealed For The Return Of Wightlink's FastCat

It is still not known when Wightlink's FastCat will return.

As previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, the route was suspended over Christmas due to low passenger numbers.

Despite coronavirus restrictions easing on April 12, the ferry firm says there are no plans for the route to start up again.

CEO Keith Greenfield said last month (March) that the service would return 'at the end of March', as previously reported.

A spokesperson for the ferry firm said:

"Wightlink continues to review the demand for foot passenger travel between the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth, however very few people are crossing the Solent at present.

"There is plenty of capacity on Wightlink's car ferries from Portsmouth to Fishbourne to carry everyone who wishes to travel at this time, whether in a vehicle or as a foot passenger.

"Wightlink tickets and passes are also being accepted on Hovertravel services.

"Wightlink looks forward to reopening its Fast Cat services as soon as demand returns but at this time does not have a firm date to announce."
