An off duty doctor has been praised for his quick-thinking actions after two people got into difficulty in the sea.
Emergency crews were called to Sandown Esplanade shortly after 4.30pm yesterday (Tuesday).
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team, the ambulance service and St John Ambulance Service all attended the incident.
Lifeguards on the beach managed to pull the pair to safety, with the help of a doctor who was on holiday, before being transferred to St Mary's Hospital.
