The winner of this year's Wight Noize competition has been announced.

Six acts went head-to-head at Strings Venue in Newport last night (Thursday) to open the Isle of Wight Festival Main Stage on Sunday June 23 — with global superstars Green Day headlining.

Ruby, Georgia Nicole, Chum?, Five Degrees North, Marnie Marie and Jaded put on a mesmeric display of musical prowess, giving the judges the unenviable task of selecting a winner to open the festival Main Stage on Sunday June 23.

The finalists were shortlisted following an application with event partner Amplead and were chosen to perform a 20-minute set of original music.

After extensive deliberation, Marnie Marie (below) were named this year's winner.

Andy Booth, Music Industry Liaison at Platform One, said:

"In all the years running this competition, I don’t think I have seen such intense debate and discussion from the panel of judges.

"This just shows how important it is to have a wide variety of experience on the panel, from songwriters and producers to record label directors and publishers, they all come at it from different angles”

The winners were announced live onstage by previous Wight Noize Winners Beth Brookfield and Matt Read of The Optimists, who triumphed in 2022 and 2023 respectively.

Marnie Marie and her band came out victorious on the night, having performed a powerful set of R&B infused pop songs.

They then went on to perform a couple more songs to close what was a very successful evening.

Platform One paid tribute to Solo Music Agency and John Giddings for continuing to support local artists.
