Plug Pulled On Popular Brighstone Christmas Tree Festival

The popular Brighstone Christmas Tree Festival won't be returning this year, after a new organiser failed to come forward.

Last year Chris Goodman, who has been at the helm of the event for around 20 years, announced he was hanging up the decorations for the last time.

A new organiser was sought but no one has agreed to take on the responsibility. It didn't take place last year either, due to social distancing rules in place at the time.

It means, after around 22 years, the event is officially coming to an end.

Chris Goodman said:

"Having done so for nearly 20 years and due to my health (and age!) I have had to 'retire' from the role.

"Thanks to everyone who has supported, displayed, visited the festival in past years. I am sorry that the time has come for me to 'hang up my spurs'."

As it does most years, the Isle of Wight Pearl, on Military Road, is hosting a mini-version at its venue.

Anyone interested in taking part in that can contact Manager, Lizzie Wade, on (01983) 740352 or 741609.
