Police were called to Merstone this morning (Thursday) after a BMW drove into the back of a dustbin lorry.
No injuries were reported, although the Isle of Wight Council subsequently confirmed today's waste collection in the area faces delays.
Residents of Merstone and Arreton have been asked to leave their waste receptacles kerbside.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
"We were called at 11.47am with reports of a collision on Merstone Lane involving a BMW and a lorry.
"No-one has been reported injured."
There will be delays with waste collection in the Merstone and Arreton areas due to an incident involving a waste vehicle this Thursday 21 April. Please leave your waste receptacles kerbside and they will be collected as soon as possible.#iwnews
