Police have erected a cordon around Ryde Canoe Lake this afternoon (Wednesday), after several swans have been found dead in the past few days.
The discovery of the dead swans has led to fears of an outbreak of bird flu in the area, with the Isle of Wight Wild Bird Rehabilitation team labelling the deaths as 'extremely concerning', and urging people to stay away from the lake.
The cordon currently surrounds the lake, blocking access to North Walk and Canoe Lake Road.
We've approached the Isle of Wight Council and Hampshire Constabulary for a comment.
