Police on the Isle of Wight have issued a reminder to people to act responsibly, after a spate of anti-social and alcohol related incidents in Newport.
Officers have said they'd been receiving reports of people drinking in the street drinking in the town in recent weeks.
The main areas of concern have been St Thomas Square, Quay Street, High Street, Scarrotts Lane, Church Litten and Watchbell Lane.
Posting on Facebook, Isle of Wight Police said:
"We will adopt a zero tolerance to street drinking in the town and therefore will continue to enforce the drinking control zone.
"We have confiscated alcohol from ten people tonight (Saturday) in the town.
"The DPPO (Designated Public Place Order) makes it an offence to drink alcohol within the zone after being requested to stop by a Police Officer or PCSO.
"The alcohol is confiscated and poured away and failure to comply is an offence for which a person can be arrested and liable on conviction to a maximum fine of £500."
