Not even COVID could put a dampener on end of school celebrations at Ryde Academy.
After 18 months of disruption, staff were determined to make sure Year 11 students weren't left disappointed again.
Deciding a traditional prom wouldn't quite cut it, they come up with several ideas to make end of school a memorable occasion.

With help from the senior Prefect team, the idea of 'PromFest' was created. It saw the Academy field transformed into a COVID-safe festival site.

"Students loved the event", the school said. "[They] said they would be happy to see this as a format for future Proms."
As well as a stage, pupils were treated to face painting, a noodle bar, burgers and mocktails - and each student was given a rainbow flag to wave.

A host of bands performed, including a Dua Lipa tribute, The Phoenix Lopes Project as well as The Rockafellas and even a staff band.

Yesterday (Thursday) saw GCSE students across the Island receive their grades after a tough couple of years.
