Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ventnor and Bembridge, along with Bembridge RNLI, have been in attendance near Whitecliff Bay this evening (Friday), in their second call-out of Christmas Day.
HM Coastguard was alerted to sightings of red flares in the bay, prompting a fear of someone in distress.
Volunteer RNLI and Coastguard crews' pagers sounded at 9.54pm, the second shout on Christmas Day.
Teams conducted a search of the bay and used para-illuminate flares to light up the area.
Nothing untoward was found and crews were stood down several hours later.
