A Red Funnel ferry was at the centre of a dramatic rescue earlier today (Thursday), after a person got into trouble in the Solent.
Red Falcon was stopped mid-sailing after staff spotted an individual in the water, alongside a small dingy.
The incident unfolded at around 3.30pm.
Leanna Lakes, Operations Director at Red Funnel, said:
“They [crew] immediately stopped the vessel and between 3.38pm and 3.40pm the team had prepared a rescue boat for launch and within 1-2 minutes of launch they had reached the casualty.”
Crew reported the incident to Southampton Patrol and a rescue boat met the vessel as it docked.
Emergency services attended shortly after.
Leanna added:
“I am extremely proud of the team onboard the Red Falcon today who quickly and safely responded to this emergency.”
